RHL History

RHL Activities Ltd, is synonymous with the RHL Weston Beach Race, which has been in existence for over 30 years. This famous event, started its life organised by a group of local business people in the town of Weston Super Mare, these business partners, slowly sold their shares, with Gareth Hockey, one of the original founders of RHL Activities Ltd, becoming involved over 20 years ago as a part owner, up to today, where RHL Activities Ltd own the sole rights to this iconic event. It is under the stewardship of Gareth Hockey this famous beach race has grown to the event it is today and is recognised as the largest off road motorsport event in the UK calendar.

RHL Activities Ltd is now synonymous with organising and promoting off road events and is recognised as one of the major companies within the industry to not only lead the sport, but raise the profile of the sport, from its traditional grass roots of muddy fields to high profile sporting and trading events, both indoor and outdoor. In 2008 RHL was rewarded for what was referred to by the press and public alike as the best British Grand Prix for a decade, with official recognition at the annual FIM awards presentation in Monaco, when Gareth Hockey stepped up to receive the Best Infrastructure Award at a Grand Prix event.

In 2012 RHL took over the promotion and organising of the former BYMX, now known as the RHL ACU British Youth National Championship. Through hard work and ensuring RHL engages with all its riders, spectators and contractors in providing an open forum of debate and decision making, this event is now recognised as the number one youth championship and this could not be achieved without the dedication and commitment of its riders, parents and family along with the vision and belief  of the RHL team under the stewardship of Gareth Hockey.  Gareth Hockey is passionate about the development of the youth rider within the sport, ,be it professional or leisure, with family values being one of the driving forces within the development of the Company.  We as a company are well aware of the fact that without the dedication of parents, partners, and the sacrifice of siblings there would be no motorcross, this is specifically poignant with regard to the RHL ACU British Youth National Championship. RHL are passionate about promoting the family atmosphere within the sport and ensures its events caters for all ages, within a safe and welcoming environment.

The Company also works closely with local Council Boroughs, consulting and advising of issues, within the Off Road World, to include The Valleys Initiative, encompassing, Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Caerphilly Borough Councils.
