Testimonials

Here are some testimonials from partners of RHL Activities events.

The Weston Beach Race attracts such a fantastic crowd each year. I have been involved with the event and specifically Gareth Hockey and RHL for 19 years and it is always an exciting and passionate occasion. At Rygor we have previously utilised product placement opportunities at the Beach Race as part of our partnership with RHL, and this October we intend to display X-Class and Vito vehicles at the event. Being part of the RHL team I am always approached by both race participants, and members of the public asking about the Rygor brand as I am known to be part of the Rygor Group. The event is a really prestigious one in the UK racing calendar and one that Rygor are proud and delighted to be part of, and relish the business opportunities it provides

Jim Pascoe - Operations & General Manager (Rygor Mercedes)

Gillingstool feel extremely privileged to have formed such an inspirational partnership with RHL Activities. The team at RHL continue to provide our pupils with memorable and exciting experiences that they will remember for many years. The pupils come away from these experiences not only full of excitement but also having learned about the various careers and interests they may follow as they grow older. The information and messages shared by RHL activities are so important for our pupils as it encourages them to be aspirational, responsible and resilient. The learning does not stop after these visits, we use them as a learning tool to inspire work from many areas of the national curriculum. Our partnership with RHL activities started with a letter written by a pupil in year 3, as part of a writing project. He wrote to them asking questions about bikes and events. Since then RHL Activities have gone above and beyond for us. For the past 2 years, our pupils have been invited along to the Hydrogarden Weston Beach Race and treated to a VIP experience, we have had an assembly led by Gareth Hockey and Darren Bachelor and we are now planning a careers event for our older pupils. The resources and expertise shared by RHL Activities are invaluable. We cannot thank the team enough for all they have done for the pupils at our school and we look forward to continued work with them in the future.

Tom Mullins - Head of School (Gillingstool Primary School)

Just when the season looks to be at its end, the Weston Beach Race offers a last opportunity in the year for KTM and Husqvarna to reach its core customers (the racers) and a very engaged audience (the spectators). The event grows and grows, and buoyed by fantastic weather offers us the chance to showcase our brand, our products and our racers for one final hit before every heads off to hibernate. Well run, well attended and well regarded, Weston is a great bookend to a busy year

Simon Roots - Marketing & Events Manager (KTM UK)

I’ve personally been involved with the medical provision for RHL as a commander since 2012, I’ve always found RHL to be efficient and risk adverse, safety has always been a top priority ensuring visitors and staff feel safe while at an event, the management team always listen’s to points raised per and post event. I would have no issue’s recommending RHL as event organiser’s

Des Young - Events Manager (South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust)

History of Motocross

The British Motocross Championship dates back to 1951 with the first events being held within the United Kingdom and now, 71 years later the Championship has grown to be known as the Best Domestic Championship within Europe. Before the sport of motocross, people had been riding motorcycles in muddy fields for years dating back to the early 1900’s. It has been stated timed trial events took place under the Auto Cycle Union clubs back in 1906.

Back in the day the sport was called ‘Scrambling or Scrambles’ where the first recorded meeting took place in Surrey in 1924. Looking at Post Second World War the sport saw an influx of bikes available to purchase which led to an increase of consumer demand over the following years, meaning a big leap in British Motocross evolution.

Going into the 1960’s the sport saw a boom in bike development and the interest of the sport continued to grow with more events taking place. The British Motocross Championship celebrated it's 10 year anniversary in 1961 according to reports. 1970’s saw Suzuki bring motocross bikes into the UK with more power, balance and technological advances from previous models.

In the 1980’s we saw British motocross star David Thorpe take to the stage with regular race wins onboard his Honda Factory machine, in 1985 Thorpe won his first World Motocross 500cc Championship.

The 1990’s didn’t follow the medal shower for British motocross riders like the 80’s. Heading into the 2000’s the UK ended with its first 125cc MX World Champion taken by Jamie Dobb onboard his Factory KTM machine.

2000’s saw UK motocross hit an all-time high with Mallory park holding FIM Motocross World Championships in 2008 and 2009 brought to you by RHL Activities. Fast forward to 2022 and the British Motocross Championship now known as the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels enters its second year with RHL Activities at the helm as the promoters of the Official ACU British Motocross Championship.
