RHL Activities to host Round One of the Maxxis British Championship

RHL Activities is excited to be organising round one of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Culham Moto Park in Abingdon near Oxford on March 12.

The eight round series that will see the very best talent in the UK battle it out for the prestigious national crown, kicks off at this old-school track with the MX1, MX2 and MXY2 contenders all looking to begin their season with a strong result. With the natural terrain of the Culham circuit, which has hosted countless national events in the past as well as the British Motocross Grand Prix, this spectacular, technical track comprised with an exciting rider line-up is likely to produce some fantastic racing.

With last year’s MX1 champion Tommy Searle out with injury, the likes of Graeme Irwin, Jake Nicholls, Kristian Whatley and Elliot Banks-Browne are just some of the few names that will be looking to gain the advantage at the season opener in the fiercely contested higher capacity class.

The MX2 category will certainly be no less thrilling. With the absence of some of last year’s race winners, it’s clear the likes of Mel Pocock and Ben Watson have to be some of the favourites, for the title, while some of the MXY2 young-guns that have stepped up for this season, such as the 2016 champion James Carpenter, will certainly be hungry for results. Liam Knight and Brad Todd will definitely be in the mix, while the older and more experienced Martin Barr will be using his knowledge in an effort to captivate that elusive title win. Kiwi racer Josiah Natzke is also a fast young-gun to keep an eye out for, while former GP racer Harri Kullas will also be looking for results.

There’s a wealth of young talent coming through the ranks and the MXY2 class is expected to provide some outstanding racing. These are the stars of tomorrow and they will cut their teeth on the same tracks as those in the adult ranks. Early hints show that Howard Wainright, Lewis Hall, Tom Grimshaw and Joe Cadwallader will be strong based on the recent pre-season race at Hawkstone, but the Culham ACU Maxxis British Championship season opener will be the real test for these youngsters.

“We at RHL are really happy to be organizing round one of the ACU Maxxis British Championship. With the line-up of riders and the Culham circuit, which is a former Grand Prix track, it’s going to provide some really exciting racing. It’s a race where everyone wants to kick off their season well, and to hint at their intention for the year, but with it being an old-school track we know it could be one of the best on the calendar. With the RHL Activities team committed to providing an outstanding event alongside the ACU, we can’t wait to kick off proceedings,” said Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities

The opening round of the series is certainly one not to be missed – tickets and more information can be found at
