GL12 Racing rider Ike Carter looks to Culham this weekend
This weekend see’s the UK’s elite youth and under 21 riders head to Culham MX Park in Oxfordshire for the second round of the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship and Steve Benton Transport British Under 21 Championship.
There is one rider who is looking to continue their battle in 125cc British Championship class onboard his GL12 Racing KTM machine. Ike Carter is no stranger to the British Youth Championship scene after competing in 125 class in 2017 finishing in seventieth position and is currently laying in third spot in the Championship following the opening round at Preston Docks last month.
We caught up with Ike ahead of this weekend’s second round at Culham MX Park, here is what Ike had to say.
RHL: The opening round took place at Preston Docks last month, how was the first round for you?
Ike: “The opening round at Preston Docks wasn’t the best round. I felt like I was ridding a bit tight and had a few crashes throughout the weekend, which didn’t help. I have trained harder thought and ready for Culham.”
RHL: This weekend see’s the Championship head to Culham, what are your thoughts on the track and what are your plans and goals for the weekend?
Ike: “Culham is a good track, its very technical and rutty. My aim is to win this weekend as I know I’m fast enough to win now I just need to prove it.”
RHL: This year you are racing for GL12 Racing, how is it going with the team and have you had much bike since Preston to prepare for Culham?
Ike: “ Yes GL12 Racing is a great team, they have helped me so much this year. I have rode a few times since Preston, working on certain things and getting myself prepared for round 2.”
RHL: Looking ahead to the rest of the season, what are your plans for each round and thoughts on the tracks left on the calendar?
Ike: “I’m hoping to be up there and be winning for the rest of the season. I am in good fitness and in the gym almost everyday. The tracks on the calendar are good and I am hoping to have a great season.”
If you would like to see GL12 Racing team rider Ike Carter battle it out with the rest of the British 125 Championship riders, then head to Culham MX Park this weekend.
