Cabscreens Crescent Yamaha Racing have positive start to season at Culham
Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha rider Harri Kullas kicked his Revo ACU British MX Championship campaign this weekend at Culham, Oxfordshire. In race one Harri didn't get the jump off the start he needed and was around 9th on lap one. Harri made some passes mid race to move to 6th place but couldn't quite close the gap to the KTM duo of Adam Sterry & Shaun Simpson.
Race Two and a better start for Harri saw him in 7th place, before passing the fallen Simpson and moving to 6th . Harri looked to close the gap to the top 5 but the dreaded arm pump kicked in and he dropped his pace to bring his Yamaha YZF450 home for 6th place, and 5thoverall on the day.
"Hard day at round one. Struggled a bit with bike set up in the first race and didn't feel comfortable but managed 6th. Second race was already better and the bike felt good, but I got arm pump and it was a struggle all moto after that, but another 6th place. Not the results or my riding I was hoping for, but I only have to focus ahead and make things happen"
Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha rider Dan Thornhill kicked his Revo ACU British MX Championship campaign this weekend at Culham, Oxfordshire. Race one got underway with Dan just outside the top 10, before moving into 9th place early on as he found a great rhythm, passing former British champ, Elliot Banks Browne. EBB passed Dan back a few laps later and Dan ended up 11th with a great ride.
Race two and a similar start, just outside the top ten for Dan, who was riding well on his Yamaha YZF450. He got on the back of a group of 4 riders but couldn't quite get close enough to make any passes and finished 11th again for 13th overall.
Dan is also competing in Expert Cup which runs in conjunction with the MX1 series, placing 2nd overall for a spot on the podium.
"It was great to get round one under our belts this weekend. Two consistent rides for me was a solid start to the season. Bad starts didn't make things easy but the riding was positive and a few things to work on for round two. Big thank you as always to the whole Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha crew"
Joe was having his first race on the Yamaha YZ125 at Culham, Oxfordshire, for round one of the MXY1 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship and qualified well in 3rd place.
Race one saw Joe have to pull out of the race due to a small technical issue after a fall, but still was classed in 20th place. Joe showed his speed in race two as his GYTR powered machine stormed off the start to lead the MXY1 class. He battled with Ollie Colmer all race, with Colmer taking the lead after a few laps. However, Joe then put a decisive and brave move on Colmer on the final uphill before the finish line, taking the win by half a second.
Race three was a similar story as Joe again led MXY1, before Bailey Johnson moved past. Joe kept Johnson in his sights but couldn't quite get close enough to pass and came home in second place.
Race 4 saw Joe take his YZ125 to another great start as he was again the leading 125 in a race which included more powerful 250cc machines. He battled all race long with Bailey Johnson, who took the lead with a few laps to go. Johnson then had a slight wobble as they both approached the finish line and Joe pushed hard to finish an agonising 0.1 seconds behind the leader.
P20 / P1 / P2 / P2 = 3rd overall in MXY1
"I was really looking forward to getting the season underway and to see where I was at with the other 125cc riders. I'm really happy to come away with some solid results on my GYTR kitted YZ125. The bike hooked up out of the gate really nicely against the 250's and I can't wait for the next round"
