Coaches at Motocross Events
29th February, 2024

Coaching is becoming more and more apparent in the sport from grassroots to professional-level riding. Are you aware as a commercial coach advising riders on how to ride a track, you will remove liability from the permitting authority to yourself?

Following a collaboration with the ACU Motocross Commission, RHL Activities, the promoters will be pushing the ACU Commercial Coach accreditation process for 2024.

To be an ACU Commercial Coach it is for anyone with a background in motorcycle sport who provides coaching for a fee. Applicants must be able to provide proof of a satisfactory standard of riding ability, first aid certificate, DBS certificate and proof of valid Public Liability (£5 million) and Professional Indemnity Insurance. The training of Commercial Coaches is charged at a commercial rate and the annual Certificate fee is £135 including VAT to the ACU and a compulsory 1-day practical assessment and training day and has demonstrated their coaching ability.

Each Coach will be signed up to the ACU Child Protection Code of Practice, ACU Ethical Code and ACU Training Manual - Best Practice Guidelines following the ACU assessment.

All coaches who are operating commercially at any motocross event will need to go through the coaches’ accreditation process by submitting the relevant document listed below at least 4 weeks before the event(s).
