This weekend saw the Phoenix Tools Apico Kawasaki team head to the Blaxhall circuit in Suffolk for the next round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels. Once again, the Blaxhall venue was perfectly prepped as the team arrived.
Coming into the weekend the weather forecast showed patches of rain, so conditions were looking very changeable for race day.
In the qualifying sessions Sam Atkinson narrowly missed out on Pole on the MXY250 class, while Carlton Husband went 6th fastest in MX2 and Jason Meara finished 19th in MX1.

MXY250
In the MXY250 opening race Sam made a good start and was soon battling for the lead in the middle of the race before suffering from some backmarkers and having to settle for second place.
Going into the second race Sam was hoping to get the race win but suffered from a terrible start and had to battle his way up to second place. Once in second he made a small mistake and dropped a position but managed to recover it before the end to finish 2nd. The two second places gave Sam second overall and he sits third in the championship.
Speaking after the races Sam said ‘today started well with a good qualifying session where I just missed out on the pole position. Then in the first race I got a good start and was in second and closing down the leader, but I got stuck behind some back markers and settled for second. In the second race I got a bad start and came back to second and made a mistake and dropped to third before coming back to second, Overall, it was a good day’

MX2
After a strong qualifying session Carlton was looking to transfer this into the races. In the first Carlton gated well and was in 7th on the opening lap but unfortunately went to pass another rider on the opening lap and lost the front and went down. After picking the bike up he had to come from nearly last to charge back for the rest of the race to finish 13th.
In the second race he good a really gate start inside the top 3 and was behind Conrad but on the opening laps he made a couple of small mistakes that upset his rhythm and slipped back to 7th place and the finish, giving him 12th overall on the day and 16th in the championship.
Speaking about his day, Carlton said ‘Qualifying went well as I got a good lap time in early in the session and was 6th fastest and that gave me good gate picks for the day. In the first race I got a good start and in 7th and then went down on the first lap in a tight turn and had to come from last to 13th, so I was happy with my riding. In the second race I got a better start and was in 3rd behind Conrad, but I made a few silly mistakes and didn’t ride a nice race and dropped to 7th, overall it was an ok day but it could have been much better.’

MX1
For Jason, Blaxhall was his first British round since Lyng due to his shoulder injury. In the opening race Jason started inside the top 15 and then moved forward before coming home in 14th place.
In the second race Jason made a better start and was running 9th early on before a small crash saw him drop to 10th but he was soon up and running again. Then the rain started to come down heavy and it made it very slippery, but Jason rode well to stay on two wheels and finish 10th for the 12th overall. Jason’s results also gave him 3rd overall in the MX1 Expert class on the day.
Speaking at the end of the day Jason commented ‘it’s been a decent day, qualifying was a bit poor as I struggled to get going as I wasn’t feeling myself and lacking on energy. In the first race it was decent as I was knocking on the door of the top 10 but faded a bit at the end to finish 14th. Then in the second race I got another good start and was running 9thand had a small crash out the back, but I got up quick and was in 10th chasing down 9thwhen the rain came down and made vision hard and the track very slippery and I finished in 10th which is a good result to build from for the end of the season’
Team Owner – Barry Moore – ‘Overall not a bad weekend, Sam with another National podium and his teammate Jason in the Expert MX1 class, Carlton had his best qualifying in the British this season. It was definitely a step in the right direction for all 3 riders and it’s all about improving as a group and we are doing that.’
