This weekend saw the Chambers Racing team head to the Kent circuit of Canada Heights for the fourth round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels. Coming into the round the team were hoping to continue the recent run of good form.
Red hot temperatures made for a challenging day for the riders as they headed out on track for the qualifying sessions. In the MX2 class Tom Grimshaw went 5th fastest with Alfie Jones going 13th fastest and Ben Putnam in 18th. In the MX1 class Glenn McCormick was 9th fastest, while in the Youth 250 class Harvey Cashmore was 11th fastest.

In the opening MX2 race both Tom and Ben made great starts and rounded the first corner inside the top and avoided the crash, while Alfie was inside the top 15. As the race went on Tom moved into 3rd place ahead of Ben, the pair pushed hard in the early laps and after losing a position mid race, Ben then made a move on Tom to claim 4th at the finish with Tom in 5th. Alfie rode a strong race to claim 12th.
The second MX2 race saw Tom and Ben both make good starts inside the top 10 with Alfie inside the top 20. As the race progressed Tom moved forward into 6th place and managed to maintain the position until the flag, with Ben just behind in 8th place. Unfortunately, Alfie suffered a mechanical issue early in the race resulting in a DNF. Tom’s 5-6 scorecard saw him claim 5th overall and 4thin the Championship, while Ben two great results saw him take 6th overall. Alfie’s one point scoring ride gave him 18th overall.

In the MX1 class, Glenn made a great start in the opening race and was running 4th, but unfortunately the race was Red Flagged. In the restart, he made another top 10 start but was struggling to get into a rhythm and battled the conditions to claim 11th. In the second race Glenn was back inside the top 10 from the start, but after his roll-offs broke on the first lap and a mistake dropped him to 15th, Glenn managed to make some passes towards the end to take 12th and 11th overall.

Canada Heights saw the Youth 250 class return and in the first race Harvey made a great start and was in 3rd on the opening lap and rode a great race in take 3rd at the finish. In the second race Harvey made another good start and was in 5th place and looking to repeat his strong result of the first moto before a mistake towards the end of the moto dropped him to 10th place and missing out on the podium in 4th place.

Tom Grimshaw – Overall it has been a good day for results but from a riding front it wasn’t so good. In the first race I really struggled for some reason with arm pump for the whole race and was not able to attack or defend from Ben who was riding great and just brought it home for 5th. I could not be upset with the result, but I was with the riding. Going into the second race I was hoping for a better race and was more fired up and got a good start but got pushed offline in the wooded section and came back to 6th and a much better ride.
Ben Putnam – In the qualifying session I got 18th which was not the greatest, but you can get a good start from there. Then in the first race I got a good start and was up the front and managed to catch and pass Tom to claim 4th which is my best result at a British so that was amazing. Then in the second race I got an ok start and pushed hard on the opening laps to get up to 8th for 6th overall which I am really happy with.
Alfie Jones – this weekend was an up and down weekend for me, I started with a good qualifying in 13th and then was feeling good going into race one but suffered a bad start. I managed to work my way forward and got up to 12th with a slight issue on the bike. Then in the second race I didn’t get the best of start and moved up to 12th and was closing in on the top 10 when my rear wheel failed, and it put me out of the race.
Glenn McCormick – it was a solid day, I got 9th in qualifying and was happy with that. In the first race I made a good start and was running 4th when the race was Red Flagged, then in the restart I got an ok start and was inside the top 10 but struggled with the heat and to find a flow and came home in 11th which I wasn’t too happy about as I know I can do better. Then in the second race I got another good start and was inside the top 10 but then my roll-offs broke on the first lap. I put my head down and battled forward for the rest of the moto and a mistake mid race dropped me back to 15th and then I pushed forward to claim 12th and 11th overall on the day, which is ok, but it could have been much better.
Harvey Cashmore – it was a really good day starting with 11th in qualifying and then in the first race I got a good start and was in 2nd before dropping to 3rdand stayed there for the whole race. Then in the second race I got an ok start and was 4th but dropped back to 9th and then hits some posts and finished in 10th so overall it was a decent day.
Tim Chambers – Team Owner – The guys all qualified well as we expected and then in the first MX1 race Glenn got a great start in 3rd but then it was red flagged. In the restart he rode well from a mid-pack start to take 11th. In the second race he started 18th and moved up to 12th for 11th overall. In the Youth 250 class Harvey had a great first race to finish 3rd and rode well to claim 10thin the second race. In the MX2 class Ben Putnam on the 2-stroke was the surprise of the first race, starting in 5th and passing Tom for 4th place, then in the second race he had another good start to finish in 8th. Tom as always had two solid starts and two solid races to finish 5th and 6th for 5th overall behind the works teams. Alfie had a mixed day with a 12th and a DNF.
